There are a many double standards floating around out there, and to me none more obvious than the standards of “family morals”.  An acquaintance of mine on Facebook recently had a minor altercation in which someone close to her brought her down with some various opinions that seemed to have accused of her pictures of being morally wrong or something of that sort.

Now guys, you know me.  Those of you that read this blog and watch me on Justin.tv know that I am anything but morally situated on either side of the moral compass.  I do things of great responsibility, helping others and doing charity work while at the same time I maintain very harsh language and adult oriented material in my day to day life.

As a photographer I have done everything from pornographic photography to saint worthy photography.  So my opinions on this matter do not float either way, as I have no place to argue what is moral and what is not, but I can have an opinion on those that choose which good morals to uphold and which to criticize other people on.

I took a look at the images that supposedly were immoral to some degree, and while she contends that they are in fact PG-13 but nothing worse than you could find on Disney channel these days (she is right by the way, I’ve seen many Disney shows with girls showing just as much skin with just as seducing looks on their face) I however disagree with them being PG-13.  Truth be told, to me they are a hard G.  Why you ask?  Because I feel that it is us, in society, that has made the female body so daring and destructive to our young viewers.  Not because it actually is, but because we teach them that it should be.

Images of men in lustful positions is rarely ever criticized, though as any young man knows a shirtless guy arouses women in much the same way if not stronger ways than a shirtless woman does to a man.  Though women might not admit it, it’s simply science.  My question for parents is why don’t you cover your daughters eyes when her father takes his shirt off in the yard while working during the summer heat.  That’s right, because society hasn’t told you to do so.

What bothers me is that we for some reason think that because men have been telling women to keep covered up for centuries that we feel we have the right to judge other women who decide not to follow that chauvinistic mindset.  You can’t have that double standard anymore.  The female body is far more beautiful than the hard edges and creases of the male body.  Not as an opinion of a straight man but as the opinion of an artist.  We respect and admire the curvatures and lines of the female body, and yet demand that women keep them covered.

I understand that a woman who is shy or afraid to show her body being understandably uncomfortable with the idea, but for those women that feel they have something to show then by damn they deserve the right to show it without being criticized.

Parents, you especially have no right to tell a woman what she should and should not show.  Why you ask?  Because kids are not stupid, and if you continued to have sex even after you had your first kid then you have undoubtedly done far worse in front of your children then those women that are half naked on TV.  No it is NOT alright just because it’s in the privacy of your own home.  Double standards exist regardless of where the action takes place.

Teaching our children that the female body is so damned destructive and that you should be ashamed of it damages girls, and in some cases causes a heightened sense of awareness of one’s body.  This is not healthy!  In my personal opinion this leads to higher cases of eating disorders and the same goes for guys.  Hiding sex is definitely not the solution, as it causes kids to be more curious.  We should instead teach our children to respect the human body and to respect sex.  If you teach kids the proper respect for sex and the human body then I can guarantee you they are far less likely to go out and make the same mistakes you did.  Don’t fuck with the natural course of life, just make sure your kids understand it.

For those of you screaming “How do you know, you don’t have kids?!” Are you fucking stupid?  I was a kid dumbass.  It’s not like I magically turned 23 overnight.  If you remember you were too at one time so get your head out of your ass and start thinking like a human being instead of a cock addicted closeted sex-a-holic.  You know you are, it’s fucking science.  We all love it, we all want it, and believe me just because you think you are better than everyone else doesn’t fool anybody for a second.  You got kids?  Then you are a dirty sex loving whore like the rest of us!

At the end of the day it is the parents responsibility to teach their kids the rights and wrongs of the world and let them take a moral path that is their own.  You can’t criticize the world for living the way it wants to just because you are unfamiliar or have some disagreement with something you feel is morally in the red.  Morals are opinions of society as a whole, but that doesn’t make them right.  In the middle east it is morally wrong for women to even show their faces and by discriminating against women here in the States, you are no different than the men that suppress the women there.  That’s their religion, and their culture.  What’s your excuse?

I should probably start from the beginning so you guys have an idea of what I’m talking about.  For the most part, the various activities I’ve been doing lately haven’t really been anything to write about as most of them were just getting my affairs in order, however, my exercise routine is definitely something to talk about.

Earlier this week, Sunday to be exact, I performed my first fitness test in the 60 day routine I’ve made myself a part of and although my numbers were lower than expected I still felt like I had done fairly well for myself.  The following day was the following exercise and while moving through the exercises I realized that I just wasn’t pushing myself hard enough.  The same feeling of fear and failure began to creep up on me, and I left my routine feeling fairly pessimistic.

Entering into my 3rd day, I decided to start from the beginning.  To re evaluate myself and push myself past my comfort zone, and I most certainly did.  To an extreme degree at that.

You see, after the first few exercises, I began to feel myself give out.  Something I’m all too familiar with, a feeling I’ve become quite used to.  In the past this is when I’ve stopped or decided it best to rest, but not this time.   It wasn’t until my 4th exercise that the gravity of this routine began to sit in.  I felt like I could go on no further, and that dark blanket of failure began to envelop me.  Just as I had nearly decided to give up, I pushed through it.  I got back up on my feet, I dove into the next exercise head first with everything I had left…

And I puked all over the place.  Twice.

Horribly demoralized and in an awful amount of pain, I cleaned myself up and finished out what I could of the exercise doing my best to push through it even though I felt as though I would heave again at any moment.  I kept thinking to myself how if this was just the fitness test, how would I ever make it through 60 days of this abuse?  I couldn’t even make it through the fitness test.

Dragging myself to the shower, I had to pull myself over the bath tub and prop myself against the wall, I felt as if a semi truck had plowed into me and kept going.  The hot water felt remarkable as I lay my head underneath the spout and closed my eyes.  Had I not been leaning against the wall I would have fallen, I could feel my head swimming with disorientation.

Suddenly, I realized something that brought a smile to my face.  On the start of the 6th day of the new year, my year, I had done something great.  Although my performance is abysmal and my health is teetering on complete rock bottom, I had pushed myself passed my comfort zone.  I had expanded beyond that wall of failure and kept moving forward.  Sure, I puked, but I had beaten that wall of giving up that I am so used to succumbing to.

So now I sit before you a broken man.  Completely exhausted, I feel like ass, but for some reason I’m happy.  I feel awful, but I feel incredible.  The moral of this story… don’t give up just because it hurts.  The realization that I’ve come to is that my body may break, my mind might doubt, but my heart won’t give up.
