2024-2025 was a wild time for me. I went from no job, no home, and no trajectory to moving in with some wonderful friends, getting a new exciting job, to being jobless again.
This time, though, I have a little more direction on my trajectory. 2026 is a pretty important year. For one, I turn 40. Believe me, that still feels insane. I don’t think I feel 40 some days, others I most certainly do. What I know, is that I’ve spent entirely too long *not doing the things I’ve wanted to do*.
And this year, I plan on changing that.
If you’re new, my name is Matt. I’m a software engineer who’s worked for small companies, Twitch for a few years, and most recently a private development firm doing secretive things I won’t discuss. However, that’s just the day life that I’ve been forced to live to pay the bills and take care of the people around me.
My real passion, of course, has always been in the content space. 17 years ago I discovered a website called Justin.tv and since then, streaming and entertainment has been a large part of my life pretty consistently.
For the last decade, I’ve attended dozens if not hundreds of conventions and events, meeting people as both an industry person and for a brief period, a full time content creator. Now content creation isn’t what I feel I’m meant to do full time. I enjoy tinkering too much, but I’ve found a lot of success in meeting and introducing people in this space. Due to that talent, I’ve recently had the opportunity to do more creative work in the space. That’ll be a big focus for me this year. Ideally, ending up with me working primarily in the space behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, this site will be dedicated to all of my interests and hobbies. Whether be software engineering, or the more creative stuff. Writing isn’t something I’m terribly good at, but it is something I enjoy from time to time.
So be on the look out for more information and content from me.
